He's "territory marking". Getting him neutered will cut down on this drastically. It may NOT stop it completely, as--contrary to popular belief, YES a neutered male/spayed female CAN still spray, if they are so inclined. But, he won't be nearly as likely to do it once he's neutered. Good luck with this.

He should have been neutered about 1 1/2 yrs ago or sooner. This is a natural behavior, he's marking his territory. If he's neutered know it may be too late and the problem might not stop. It only gets worse as time goes on. Talk with you vet asap. Your home and his things smell like what's he's used to, her stuff doesn't. This is a big cause for male and females to end up in the shelters. Yes females can and do spay as well. All cats (kittens) (I recommend) should be spayed/neutered at about 4-5 months of age. Best of luck

you answered your own question..
because he's not neutered!!
To guarantee a male cat will never spray, they should be neutered at 6 months of age. Many many innocent cats get passed from home to home and eventually euthanized because people won't EDUCATE themselves beforehand about the importance of speying/neuetering at 5-6 months of age.
If you neuter him, there's a pretty good chance he'll stop, but not a guarantee. At least nothing like the 99% guarantee that he would have never sprayed if you'd fixed him when you should have.

Most male cats will stop doing this after they are neutered (but not all... I had a male cat who did this for 13 years, even after being neutered).
*Edit.... mine was neutered at 5-6 months old

Hi 2 u, You need to have him neutered. He is marking your girlfriend as his territory. She needs to use baking soda along with detergent when doing her laundry to neutralize the smell. Good Luck!

he's marking his terroritory so that any visiting cats know that's his house and they're not welcome!
You should get him neutered ASAP - it won't just stop the constant peeing, it will ensure that he doesn't wander and end up impregnating all the undone ladies in the neighbourhood! It will also stop him from wanting to fight, thus reducing the risk of injury and disease, so all good!

Neuter him. That's what un-neutered cats do. And check him for a urinary tract infection if he pees too often in strange places.

If u dont want your cat to get nudered, take a damp cloth and stroke him with it, then rub down all the places where he "sprays", that way he will be more comfortable because it will have his scent.
