Better to take refuge in the LORD than to put one's trust in mortals. Psalms 118.8
Yes this is very true. Why put all your trust into one person, whom is not perfect in any way shape or form. When you can take refuge within the Lord, where you know you will always be safe an cared for....
And what is up anyways, whats going on??

I read only the KJV any more and I own them all. The Bible says the word of God is not bound. All Bibles are copyrighted but the King James Version is not.
I have never calculated the words or verses, but it stands to reason that Psalms 118:8 could be the center of the Bible.
Psalm 117 is the shortest chapter and Psalm 119 is the longest chapter.
God has always told us that heaven and earth may pass but His word would never pass away. History - His story - is the most contested book in the entire world and it has stood the test of time. His prophets have prophesied truth.
Have you seen Isaiah 30:25 "........in the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall."
This just happened on 9/11. We are told to read His word "line upon line, precept upon precept and here a little and there a little."
Ask the Lord to increase your faith. He will you know!

I looked up quite a few of those verses. In the first verse, Solomon (the old philosopher) is speaking about the fact that nothing really matters except knowing God. His point in that passage is that after we're dead, there'n no more impact we have on earth, and even those who remembered us while we are alive die out -- so everything we accomplish vanishes. He had all the money, power, sex, whatever he wanted -- and was totally bored with life. That's his point -- there's nothing new under the son. As to all of those other verses: I believe that when we die, our body decays, and our soul goes into basically, a holding pattern. What I am about to say sounds like mythology, though I believe mythology tries to render it unbelievable. I believe that believers are immediately present with the Lord in Spirit (Romans 5), and unbelievers are separated from the Lord. After God's Second Coming, I do believe that believers will be resurrected, and reign with Christ on earth. Unbelieving spirits stay in that holding place separate from God until the Great White Throne Judgement listed in Revelation 20:10-15. That comes after the Millennium listed in the first part of Revelation 20, and also spoken about in Isaiah 65, and Ezekiel 40-45. Some say that Isaiah 65 speaks of heaven, but death is in this place; therefore, it must be the Millennium. At the time of the Great White Throne Judgment,, unbelievers are thrown into hell. I realize people wonder how a loving God could do that, but actually He provided a way out and asks people to take it. If they don't, then He has no choice since He is also a fair judge. In a court of law, if a rapist came to trial, confessed his guilt, had witnesses, and was, in fact, guilty, would the judge be at fault for giving the rapist a sentence in jail? Wouldn't the judge be faulted -- particularly by the victims of the crime, (like the victims of our sins), if the judge did nothing? So, yes, I believe that God will place unbelievers in hell. Revelation 21, and other passages you quoted state that then God creates a new heaven and a new earth. So, God creates a new heaven and a new earth. That's all the Bible says about them, particularly the new earth, so I'm just going to have to wait and see it for myself. Rhonda F.

8 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.
I don't know the Urban legend but Psalms 118:8 makes sense to me.

Yes.
Psalm 118 is the centre chapter.
There are 594 chapters before it and 594 chapters after it.
594+594= 1188
Which looks like 118:8.

It does make sense. It may be the numeric center of the Bible (chapter and verse wise). If not, then its pretty close. The verse itself is definitely life changing-if one believed it and acted on it.

All the corruption and death in the world is caused by the sin of man and man has as result become selfish, self-seeking and destructive. Only God has the power to redeem and restore man and His other creation to the perfect state that He had created them in the beginning. The central theme of the Bible is redemption and restoration of creation which can only come to pass by the plan and power of God. Man has messed everything up so we have to trust God to bring everything back to perfection and individually to make each of us right to be like Jesus Christ. God bless you.
