If you have to cook an egg in its shell in the microwave, remember to first make a small hole in it using a needle. Otherwise, it will be better to first beat the egg (without the shell of course) and make an omelette in the microwave.

In order to clean a microwave, the best thing to use is lemon juice. Fill a mug with water and squeeze one whole lemon in it.

Put it in the microwave and set it on high for 2 minutes.
Lemon and water will soften whatever is splattered inside your microwave and then you can just wipe it clean.

Easy!

You have to pierce the egg yolk or it will explode in the microwave at any setting. Break the egg into a cup, pierce the egg yolk with toothpick, and cover the dish loosely with plastic wrap. Cook it for one minute or so on the high setting, depending the desired doneness.

To clean my microwave, I put a heat proof pitcher of water inside and boil it for a few mintues to loosen the dried on food. Then remove it and wipe down the inside of the microwave quickly before it gets hard again.

First off, I'd recommend NOT cooking eggs in the microwave. They've got a very weird taste when done.

Due to differences in alot of microwaves having 'cold' and 'hot' spots, it's a little hard to tell what setting you need to put them on. It sounds like you're trying to microwave them in the shell, for sort of a hard-boiled effect. I'd place them in a bowl of hot water, so they're completely submerged, this way you're cooking the water, not the eggs directly. That should hard boil your eggs pretty well.

As for cleanup, 409 and some scrubby-padded sponges works miracles.

you need to break the yolk of the egg before microwaving. I often cook eggs by breaking them into a microwavable dish (spray with PAM so they come out easily) being sure to break the yolk, then just cook 30 seconds at a time. Sometimes they'll still pop a little, but if you put some waxed paper over the dish then no mess!
