It would be interesting to show my 20/15 husband what the world looks like to me, Ms. 20/6000, without my glasses. Could this be achieved by taking a picture from a film camera and adjusting the focus until it meets MY focus level? Then again, I don't think we have lenses strong enough to reach that.

Thanks everyone!

This way might work, if you have a kind of camera where you can set the focus manually and you are looking through the camera lens when focusing; put your glasses in front of the lens (so camera lens is centered in front of one eyeglass lens) about the same distance as they would be from your eyes, adjust until the image is in focus, then remove the glasses and take the picture.

There is another way that might work, find the furthest you can see something (without glasses) and have it be in focus. If your vision is really 20/6000, it is probably only going to be a few inches. Set the camera lens for this distance and take a picture of something in the distance (you might need a close up lens to get a "near enough" setting.

Some of the developing places don't bother to make prints of pictures that are this messed up, so you might need to enclose a note saying print it no matter how out of focus it is.

I would think your husband would would be able to get an idea how nearsighted you are just by putting on your glasses for a moment.

Possible- but I'm not a camera buff. Simply put someone with 20/200 has to be 20 feet away from something to see it like poeple with normal vision, ie 20/600, 20/800 and so on.

If you know your prescription (-6 to -8 I'm guessing), then you can get dollar store ready made reading glasses he can put over his eyes to see how you see. You will need to get +6 to match -6, +7 to match -7. Since the readers don't come in powers much above +4, you will need to use two or three pairs on top of each other, ie use +3 and +3 to get +6.
