The funny part of that is -- Historical Con-men state that Joseph Smith was a con-man.

Okay, I am going to clarify your question here...the "fact" is that history states....blah blah blah. And in actuality, only SOME histories state this.

History also says that Bill Clinton was a wonderful guy. I don't buy that either. History is starting to smear Mother Theresa. Great! History is going to smear George W. Bush, regardless of the good he has done, but focus on his inadequacies. And SOME historians say that Jesus Christ was also a charlatan (especially those in the times immediately after his death and resurection).

History is written by people. And some people have an agenda. And the agenda of some people is to bring about the destruction of the LDS Church (never mind that we're not actively trying to destroy their faiths). How do I deal with this? I don't dwell on people attempting to dismantle my faith, and know that a lot of what they preach is false. Mother Theresa was also a good woman.

When I was in Elementary school History textbooks said that Columbus discovered North America; however, subsequently this had to be removed from the textbooks as it has been shown to be false. Columbus did not discover North America. He discovered what is now the Bahamas off the coast of South America. History has been wrong before and, in the case of Joseph Smith, any historical document stating thus, that Joseph Smith was a con-man, is deeply mistaken. God bless.

Which histories written by whome?

I had the chance to take an American History course by two very different university proffesors. One was blatantly liberal, the other blantantly conservative. It was AMAZING how different the same exact events where taught.

I learned from that experience that "history" must be explored and understood from as many different sources and points of view as possible. If I blindly accept one point of view (particularly from people with obvious agendas) then I'll never really understand what happened.

History also states that the world was flat. Later it was proved incorrect. I choose to let God be the judge. In fact I already have. I have asked him in prayer and have received an answer.
I am a lifelong Mormon.

REAL history is not so simplistic, which is a good indication that what you're referring to is your own version of made-up history. The anti-Mormon version of history is not accurate.
