MADRID -- An imam who wrote a book on how to beat your wife without leaving marks on her body has been ordered by a judge in Spain to study the country's constitution.

The judge told Mohamed Kamal Mustafa, imam of a mosque in the southern resort of Fuengirola, to spend six months studying three articles of the constitution and the universal declaration of human rights.

Mr. Mustafa was sentenced to 15 months in jail and fined about $2,600 last year after being found guilty of inciting violence against women.

A judge released him after 22 days in jail on the condition that he undertake a re-education course.

The Spanish government has set up a commission to find ways for the Muslim community to regulate itself. A central recommendation is that imams speak Spanish and have a basic knowledge of human rights and Spanish law.

From a paper on how to hunt out and convert Buddhists, to some of those horrid cartoons that are handed out all over the place.

The point is that these are the hateful actions of Fundamentalist Wackjobs. The rest of their faith should not be judged by the actions of a few Bigots.

It is a different culture. Women are considered to an extent as second class and therefore do not have the same rights as men. In Spain that is not so but the Islamic culture and Indian cultures have such a view (it's changing but slowly).

There was a survey done in India a few years ago and it asked women "what is a valid reason for a husband to beat his wife" (or something along those lines). The results came in and they created a top ten reasons for a husband to hit his wife. Remember it was the women that answered, no men. So what do you do when the women actually say "It is ok to beat a wife if she commits one of the following...". Survey was of several thousand. So go figure.

As I said a different culture with different views and ways. In Islamic countries the women do not vote, education is not a requirement for women.

Even in the western world women have only been considered equals or even as true people for the last century. Prior to that they did not have the vote and also were considered basically as property of the husbands. So if a wife got out of hand, it was ok to punish her (back then).

Things have changed here and so they will over there. It takes time.

How to beat your wife? from my understanding the prophet teaches you to love honour protect not only your wife but all women. should a wife does petty mistakes a husband should tell and guide her. repeated mistake should be given a warning. if a wife causes problem like having a man in the house with the husband consent or present then this is implemented. sexual inactivity !!!!! yes sometime it is a form of therapy. if a women is high in desire ,no respond from the husband for a couple of days it will make her miss the husband more thus she will think about the cause of the inactivity it might make her realise her mistake and change her way. when the husband know that and on the activity, they will burn the house down with passion. anyway women should be love not beat them. i guess this days men dont implement this law anymore one of the reason we are modern educated people

There is only one case in which a man may beat his wife. Before he can resort to beating, he must verbally remind his wife of the laws of Islam regarding marriage. Then, as an expression of his emotional pain, he needs to remove himself from the marital bed. Finally, after all other methods have been exhausted, he may strike her. With a toothbrush. The part about the toothbrush is offered as an explanation by Prophet Muhammad himself. Prophet Muhammad also banned beatings. Apparently, the toothbrush is the extent of permissible beatings according to Islam.

Muslims who are experiencing marital discord are strongly advised to work it out in a consultation between both families or the local clergy.

This is only if the wife is disobedient. First, you try to talk it through. If she continues to be same way, then it is ordered to separate your sleeping places. And if she is still disobedient, then only you are allowed to use some force. If u had a copy of the Noble Curran - you would see the commentator suggest using a "toothbrush" to hit your wife. no hitting on the face allowed or leaving any marks on the body.

So you see, It's only the third option. AN OPTION! You can't beat your wife for fun, get it. Indians and Chinese beat their wives so badly sometimes and they are not even Muslims. if you have a good husband, it won't happen anyway.
