Me and my fiance are getting married in the court house. I'm having a hard time deciding what to wear because we'll be getting married in January and we live in Alaska!

I was thinking a long dress with a long coat over it. I'm just worried about the shoes [don't want to fall on my face in the ice!] Is red a good idea? I also like the white!.. and my fiance is going to wear his uniform.

These are a few I really like:

Opinions Please?!

I agree with the first poster... I love the third dress you chose! And definitely do not wear heels. Find something flat with a sensible sole.

I envy your winter wedding because you get to wear a furry hooded cape and look like a snow princess. Of all the David's Bridal wraps, I like this one best:

I've never been to Alaska, but if you're worried about ice, wear other simple shoes, boots, etc to get you inside the court house, then change into the shoes you would like to wear with the dress.
If this is your 1st wedding, go with dress #3, it's beautiful for a 1st time bride.
If this is not, go with dress #2, it's beautiful for any bride there after.
Also, you can use the same flowers for either one.
Congratulations.

I like the first and second link, but I think you should still wear the dress with white/cream. just because it is in the court house doesn't mean that you are not a bride. And as far as shoes. Just where something comfortable and then when you get in the building change them. Congrats!!!

Why not just dress in typical gear to get into the courthouse, then have everything with you so you can duck into the bathroom for a few minutes and make your big transformation? Maybe have your makeup on ahead of time and hair ready to just touch up. Show up separately and he doesn't even need to see you beforehand! Any color is fine for a wedding...whatever you feel beautiful in.

The third dress is long enough that you won't have to worry about heals, you can wear comfy shoes that you won't slip and fall in. Davids Bridal has some nice wraps that you can check out (no bulky coat that way) here is the link http://www.davidsbridal.com/accessory_return_wraps_bridal.jsp

Best of luck!!

I love the third dress! I think it will make you look like a Snowy Princess, especially if you found a faux fur lined gown coat. And I agree that you should just wear comfy shoes. I'm wearing these... http://www.solestruck.com/rocket-dog-string-white/index.html I found them at DSW. They're comfy and yet still look very pretty with my gown. I wish you the best!!

well don't forget that holiday dresses, kinda like #1 and #2, will be out in stores soon too.
jcpennys and macys... oh target too. all have nice holiday dresses that you can consider too. they may be cheaper too
you don't have to worry about formality at a court house wedding unless you want to. you can go a lil more casual too

My pick would be the fourth dress. It's beautiful. Personally I think you will look lovely in anything you chose.
