It may be fun, but it also can be driving without due care and attention for the safety of other road users. Yes pedestrians do count! Fine and 3 points unless you can show you couldn't reasonably avoid it. The damp pedestrian could also sue you for damage to clothing and possessions. If blocked drainage was involved then the local road authority could be dragged in as well

I supposed you could be done for not driving with due care and attention but sometimes it can't be helped although, as per the previous answers, it is best to avoid the elderly, the infirm and the very young! Another factor is to think why is there a puddle - there might be a big dip/hole in the road.

I remember a car driving through a puddle when I was pushing my son in his buggy - the driver drove so fast that I was drenched and the force of the "wave" knocked the buggy over into the road! Needless to say he did not stop!

If you can't avoid the puddle (and it is safe to do so) then drive through it very slowly thus creating ripples rather than waves.

Yes you are breaking the law. Avoid water where possible and safe to do so......if you cannot avoid it drive through very slowly. It will not splash pedestrians and you won't damage your vehicle. Make sure you know how deep the water is before you attempt to go through in severe conditions!!!

Yes you are breaking the law...

If you drive too fast through low water and soak pedestrians and cyclists, the police could prosecute you for driving without reasonable consideration to other road users. This can result in a fine of £2,500 and between three and nine penalty points on your licence.

Its the last bullet point on the website

It depends on the circumstances....if there is an isolated puddle and for a laugh you drive through it and soak nearby pedestrians then yes, you can be prosecuted if caught, but if the road is flooded then you can't help it if you create waves and pedestrians should know that.

not if the road was flooded but if it was an isolated puddle you should avoid driving through it anyway as it could be deeper than you think and damage the car but if you splash a pedestrian deliberately then yes it is illegl

It is in the highway code, so yes i suppose it is illegal. You must drive around puddles if its safe to do so, and if you cant drive around them then drive slowly so that it doesnt splash on pedestrians

I cant say ive ever met anyone that's been charged for driving through a puddle though!

Yes, it is an offence, you can be prosecuted for careless or inconsiderate driving, there's even an old law which dates back to carriages called 'Furious driving', that would also cover it.

Yes, it's a specific offence. That's at any time, not just during floods.
