A guy at my school (university) asked me out and we went out a couple of times and I really fell in love with him, but then he tells me he is in a period of his life where he wants to be free, and that he is not ready for a relationship. I'm not ready either but I know he is "the one" and the chance of ever meeting someone like that again probably doesn't exist.
I can't tell him how I feel because that's exactly what scares him away, so what am I going to do?

You have one of two choices, as I see it. You can either tell him and run him off, or take a chance that he will change later. It depends on how much you love him, and if he is really worth it.

You said that you only dated a couple of times. seems to me that you are not in love, but infatuated with him. Love doesn't develop that quickly.

Come on, you just think he is the one because you're in love right now. As young as you are you should just enjoy dating guys, hanging out and having fun, not to mention setting yourself up for a successful career.

LEAVE HIM EMIDDIATELY!!!
Don't waste your time and feelings!!!!
The idea that no one can replace him is subjective.
There are many, many even better than him.
