A Tom Cat named Joe, when I was about 8, 100 or so years ago, disappeared. He was about 10, so we assumed he had gone off and died. 10 MONTHS later, on Thanksgiving morning, he meowed at the back door and asked to come in, just like he had always done. It was, to him, as if he had never been gone. No signs of injury other than normal scarred ears for tom cats. If ever I wished a cat could talk, I would have loved to known where that Joe had been all those months.

Another one, female named Lucky, my daddy accidentally hauled off in his truck. The cat was asleep in the bed of the truck and he saw her jump out several miles from home. We searched and searched. It took her a week, but she found her way home, and learned her lesson. She never got in the truck again!. Animals have an amazing sense of where home is - rest assured - he will get home if he can.

My INDOOR cat got out once -- my landlord forgot to close the door -- and she was gone for 2 weeks, in winter. I had just about given up finding her when I looked in the backyard and there she was! I ran outside, in the snow, in my stocking feet, I was SOOOOO happy to see her! I don't know where she was all that time -- I had spent days and days calling her and searching for her. She had lost some weight but otherwise was fine!

Good luck -- I hope your kitty will come home soon.

Cats do wander, but they also sometimes get trapped. If it's out of character to be away so long you should make up some leaflets and give them to your neighbours, asking them to check sheds/garages etc just in case she took a wrong turn.

She may just come back on her own though, cats can be very independent little creatures 8)

One cat went missing for a week, I had given up - then I was in my front yard, and I heard him crying! He was under some bushes in the front yard of the house across the road.
He had obviously been hit by a car but he was alive. His hip was broken so the vet put a pin in it and after some weeks he was as good as new. He never went near the road again though.
I sincerely hope your kitty turns up safe like mine did!!!!

My cat was gone for six weeks. He had never been outside and he was 12 when he ran away. When he came home he had ringworm, other then that he was fine. Keep up the hope!

We used to have one that disappeared for upto a month at a time. The kids used to run round searching and putting posters up then he would just walk back in like he'd only just left. He wax neutered and we never did work out where he went but he never looked skinny so I think he was going visiting !

it depends if the cat is on heat they will go for a lot longer but ifshes not on heat you wouldnt know.one of my female cats went away for a month and then came back but then did it again and i havnt seen her ever again. it depend also were you live if it is the suburbs or country.there could be alot of reasons why your cat hasnt come home hopefully she will come home for you safe and well or she is lucky that she might have found a home that could be feeding her up.good luck.
