The way I've heard it (and I like this better): The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

i loved that sayin when i was a kid. the early bird gets the worm but if your a worm sleep late. so in all reality he would have nothing to eat cause he is sleepin in. just so he dont get eaten lol
