I need to know why a few months ago a colonoscopy did not diagnose my cancer of the anus known as Rectum?

so that is what I want to know. The doctors tell me that colonoscopys are not used in detection of cancer of the anus, but for the bowel why is that. Becasue it has taken me a long time to find out what type of caner I am dealing with here. I first put all my sypmtoms down to bowel cancer, as I was getting diarea with blood, consitipation mucas etc, now I found out that I have an abnormal lump in my anas that is malignant, and getting all the white discharge with blood coming down with it, and my lymp nodes are swollen in my groin area. I have not yet started treatment as I will soon.But I want to know why a colonoscopy did not pick this up? and I am getting pain of and on raidiating down my left knee which is painful I am getting this of and on. why? Please help

You have a condition called Munchausen syndrome and that is why nothing was found on a colonoscopy.

I'm sorry that was missed on the first go around with you. I would assume that the doctors were looking for something in the colon, and the growth on the rectum was not noticable at the time. You could request the records and have another doctor take a look at the pictures. What baffles me is that they have to take the scope in through the rectum? I know the bowel preps they use for colonoscopys make people very sore and many times the rectom is inflamed as a result. It is my educated guess that at the time the growth was much smaller and was not seen due to the recent bowel prep and irritation of the rectum. Try a cool or warm compress for your comfort of the leg. It sounds like nerve pains as mentioned above by another answerer. If the pain does not get better. Call your doctor and get yourself some better pain medication.

I'm sorry to hear that , Without educated opinions you are only making things worse . Make an appointment with a cancer specialist. preferably not the one who has an office in the same building as the Doctor who did the colonoscopy.
I understand that you are angry but at an early stage cancer can not be detected at the present time .

Have you googled this stuff or checked the national cancer societys web? Is your cancer local or has it metastisised? they dont always know what certain cancer pains are but sometimes a tumor can push on a nerve and can send shooting pain signals to diferent places in the body. If the cancer spreads to the liver, it can cause whats called "refered" pain to odd places throughout the body especially the right shoulder. Can I ask what country you live in? If you can get to a cancer center you will be better off treatment wise. and you should call your doc and tell them about your leg. I hope your getting something good for pain.Your very brave! Cancers of the colon that are not detected are typically on the left side of the colon. For some reason, the instrument only picks up tumors on the right side, top and bottom. That's why they call it practicing medicine. Good luck.
