The theory is that Eden was either:
A. Destroyed by the flood.
or
B. Buried under thousands of years of earthquakes, minor floods, tsunamis, hurricanes, et cetera.
I honestly don't know, though. Maybe it was just a story, or maybe it really happened.

My info is sketchy but i believe Adam and Eve were cast out of the garden and a Angel put in place to guard it so man would not be able to eat of the tree of life and death (a different tree from the tree of knowledge of good and evil), if the tree is still in existence, say, frozen hundreds of feet below ground as a consequence of the flood, and there is still fruit or seeds frozen then i suspect the Angel could still be there guarding it, and Angels guarding any place where fruit or seeds may be in existence. I suspect that no fruit or seeds of this tree survived the flood.
Actually i just read the passage of scripture. God placed 'Cherubims', and 'a flaming sword' which turned every way, to keep the way of the 'tree of life'.
I'll add that man doesn't seem to always visually sense the spiritual realm, in other words if you did happen upon the tree of life and try to eat of it, possible scenarios include: Seeing Angels, and their swords, or 'the sword' arching towards you. The Angels influencing you, say, by blinding u to the knowledge of the tree, or by robbing you of your desire to eat of it, or influencing a rock, or fragments of a rock, to fall from the sky on to your head rendering you incapable of eating of the tree.

The Garden of Eden was destroyed in the Flood of Noah's day. A worldwide flood would by definition be catastrophic, so the Garden was completely obliterated. The cherubim is no longer needed. Genesis 6-9.

I took this literal too and assumed it was flooded out. But what if it's a spiritual realm we cannot reach? My friend thinks we have "gifts" but we shouldn't use it that God will bless us with full use of it if we behave ourselves. She thinks He would have let us eat from the tree of life if we could have shown we could have been trusted with His one instruction. The spiritual realm can be powerful and anyone with access to it has to show they can only use it for the good of all. It's a very interesting thought.

I was thinking about this the other day, maybe the garden of Eden was like Atlantis or Lemuria. That or some place in the Amazon.
