The answer is very obvious: Welfare of humanity.

From a Hindu perspective, following the dharma is the most important pursuit, but because there are so many anti-Hindu people who don't like the dharma tag, let us settle for "welfare of humanity" as the ultimate goal. What else could even be the ultimate goal of life?

The other options clearly do not make sense. Sex cannot be the purpose of life, because by itself it cannot feed people and help them when they are in trouble. Fame cannot provide objective aid either.

No matter how much you think your religion is the best (be it Islam, Christian, whatever), the simple answer is that you have to work for mankind's welfare or you will get the fruit of your actions. This is the law of karma, and it exists even if you don't like to believe in it.

Letter A for me.

That should be my goal. I think I should do more about it, but I know that is my goal.

Sex is important too, essential I should say, but it is not the best desire to accomplish in this world, because it is more like a body+mind pleasure than spiritual, although it can be spiritual when you do it with the person destined to be your partner for life. It is not a sin, though, when practiced out of this context, as long as you don't hurt anyone's feelings (betraying for example). Our morals should come first.

Peace!

Let me tell you one thing before I answer this question.......if you think people answering this question believe in what they say then forget it. I'm a psychologist's assistance, have seen many guilt conscious people who do social work and work for social causes just because they want to achieve some good deeds in life so that they can die peacefully. Even I'm a social worker in a technical sense but I get a salary at the end of the month. So answering this question would mean a ways to hide my actual desire to cover up my guilt consciousness!!!

The best desire that we should have is the desire for God or God's grace because this desire is the most valuable one which have its merits spread over many births. So if we desire for God in this birth and if we are able to accomplish him in this same birth, the merit of His grace will follow us in all our coming births.Hence desire for God is the most desirable desire which inturn will make us desireless as regards wordly things thereby helping us to attain moksha or liberation!!!
