I am going on a cruise to Hawaii. I will fly there and then cruise to four islands. I am a senior lady going with my daughter. What fun, different things we can do when on land? Horseback riding? Off road 4-wheeling? Visiting the Volcano? Do you know a website that tells of the "unusual" fun things to do?

There is plenty to do off the beaten path! I think a lot of it will depend on how much time you have to spend on each island. For example, on the big island, if you port in Kona, it could take over two hours to drive to the volcano. Factor in the return trip, and you could spend the entire day in the car! Probably not the way you envisioned your hawaiian vacation!

Most of the islands do offer ATV's, and I highly recommend the trips. On Maui, we did a combination ATV and zip line tour that was really fun. We did a zip tour on Kauai that was great too, and included a trip to a private freshwater swimming spot. We plan to do ATV's on our trip to the Big Island next year.

I would recommend picking up one or two of the "Revealed" books... http://www.wizardpub.com/ for some less common, but no less amazing, adventures for your time on the islands.

Have a great trip!!

There are many wonderful things to do on each island, including those that you have mentioned. Unfortunately, with a cruise, you have very limited time on each island. To make the best use of that time, I would suggest you choose from the optional excursions that the cruise ship will offer to you and the other passengers. That way they will make all the arrangments and you won't waste your brief time on each island trying to figure out what to do and how to get to the various sights.

There is a lot of info about things to see and do on Maui, as well as a page of info about Hawaii cruises, on this website:

There are alot of really cool things you can do on each island and each island you can do something different. Below is a web site for the Hawaiian isitors Bureau but I always tell people to visit the Tedeshi Wineri on Maui. They make a pineapple desert wine called Maui Blanc and it is wonderful! Small winely but very unique. Their web site is included also.
