Smokers, why do you think it's okay to toss your cigarette butts on the ground?

Does it matter to you if there's litter on the ground?

Why don't you care about other people?

As for it being biodegradable, well, ultimately everything is. But until it biodegrades, it's a piece of litter lying there.

I don't throw mine on the ground. I'm very careful not to. All smokers aren't rude, crude and socially unacceptable like that.

Yep... Some of the smokers at work did this .... There is no smoking in the building, so everyone smoked just outside the front door. The ground was covered with butts because people were too lazy to throw them in the sand tray 5 feet away. Then they all got pissed when they were told they can't smoke there anymore. Now they all have to go across the street and smoke... it's their own fault... People do arrogant stupid things and then get angry when people tell them about it. I just feel kinda bad for the people who actually used the sand tray, they have to pay for the laziness & ignorance of others.

Here are some answers.
1) It's ok because we're better than you because we smoke.
2) Of course we think about it when we do it - we're thinking that we're so much better than you
3)It does not matter if there is litter on the ground, maybe it will catch on fire and we'll be doing you a favor by removing the litter via a small fire
4) We don't care about you non-smokers because we don't consider you to be real people (therefore, why should we care?)

That last statement about it being biodegradable...it's not a question, but I wish my cigarette butts weren't biodegradable, then they would last forever.

Well after reading your question i realised im an anti litter litterer..
I hate it when people litter and I dont do it myself, but I do toss my cigarette butts on the ground. Dont ask why I do it tho cause I dont even notice im doing it at the time.

sorry about that; I run for exercise every day and just ran into another smoke cloud. Gosh, I hate cigarettes and litterbugs! When someone throws a cigarette butt out of a car window, it's considered littering and you should report the offender to your state DOT.

If you're on a street or sidewalk, pick up the butt and hand it back to the offender and point them in the direction of the nearest ashtray.

I hate it two, and any litter bugs for that matter. Also don't smokers know butts cause acid rain, and that if you commit a crime and leave a butt they can find you through DNA...you should watch CSI before you leave ur epithelials lying around

I go out of my way to put cigarette butts in the trash. While you are at it, you should ask people why they spit their gum out the car window, or toss it on the ground....its not much better. Laziness is laziness. It's not specific to smokers.

as a smoker, that REALLY bugs me too!!! I have dropped mine on the floor, stepped on it to put it out, then picked it back up to throw away..
But I have been in a group where i was the only one doing that.. and throwing it into storm drains is not ok either!

usually because there are no recepricles to put it in, and they won't let you smoke in the stores. You can't smoke anywhere nowadays, thats why I stay home! But throwing butts out of car windows is a no-no, it can start fires!
