I just gor 2 8 week old kittens from a lady, when I brought them home I discovered that they had fleas. This lady had dogs, and cats that she did let outside and so I am pretty sure these kitties contracted these fleas from the other animals.

I have been using the flea brush daily, but what is the best thing to do or to use to get rid of these fleas on these poor kitties.

* They are still too young for a flea collar , I beleive they have to be 12 weeks.

Bathe them. Really. In the kitchen sink, using shampoo. The shampoo will smother the fleas. Start running water. Once the water is warm (about like a baby bottle),plug up the sink so the water doesn't drain out. Put the kitten in the sink.Put only enough water so that it is chest high on the kitten. The kitten will probably wiggle around, so keep a firm grip on it. Have lots of towels ready. Leave the shampoo on as log as you can(or as long as the kitty will tolerate it). The fleas will move up to the head to get away from the water. You will have to pick these off. Just put the fleas in the soapy water. They will drown.Once you don't see any more fleas, rinse the kitten. Rinse again. Soap can make a kitty sick. Dry the kitty off. you can use a blow dryer for this.If you start bathing cats when they are young, they get used to it.

Do not use a flea collar on any cat, even an adult one. They are useless, and often cause bad reactions - don't bother.

Just get a proper treatment from a vets. Any of the veterinary spot-ons can be used from 8 weeks of age, and Frontline spray can be used from 2 DAYS of age. Don't ever buy any flea products from pet stores.

You're right about them being too young. I have a cat who came to us COVERED in fleas, poor thing. And she, too, was tiny-- 3 weeks old, actually. You should bathe them to remove the fleas, and of course be sure to clean your house thoroughly to prevent reinfestation. Also check the animals on a regular basis-- you may not get all the fleas in just one bath. The good news is, when they're that little, they're much easier to bathe.

Good luck!

You can use most flea medications when they are eight weeks old, but check first. I've been using Frontline Plus on my kitten since he was 8 weeks and it works very well, though I have heard other people say they do not prefer Frontline.

I would do a herbal flea bath, its natural and kittens that young will adapt fine to bathes and it will keep the fleas down and eventually they will die out, also remember to treat the house as well.

Ask a vet first, because of their age,but I would use "Frontline". Its a powerful flea treatment that you can get from the vet. Its more expensive, but its worth it. BTW, dont try the flea treatment from a store, i.e. Hartz. They do not work at all!

Frontline - just check with the vet that they are old enough.
