I've never seen it done. But, I guess there really isn't anything wrong with it....

Yes it is! There are different ways to use your utensils so people will always debate this. Americans usually cut meat with their fork in theleft hand and knife in the right. Then they out down the knife and change hands and put the fork in their mouth right side up with their right hand. Europeans don't change hands and sometimes use the fork upside down. So there isn't just one right way. Of course that doesn't mean she still won't like it.

I don't see much of a problem with it, I like to use an upside down fork when eating dessert, it drives my husband crazy ;)

Sure it is.
If you want to know "proper etiquette": Americans are the only ones who tend to put it in their mouths with the tines up. Everywhere else it the world, it is held "upside down" when it is put in the mouth. Who's right? Both are.

I think if it the way that you always eat your food then it is definitely acceptable. It doesn't matter how the food goes in as long as it does. I have heard of people who can't even use utensils and use their hands. That might be considered unacceptable but in your case I see no problem. Hope this helped.

The only time I have seen people eat that way was on the Harry Potter movies. I guess it all depends on where you live.

I detest people who tell me what is proper. And who decided it was their job to tell us how to sit, what fork and spoon to use, how to set a table etc? Who gave them this right to dictate how we eat?
