I'm not sure how you can do that with marshmallows. If you cut into them, you create a very sticky edge. You would have to constantly dip them in cornstarch or powdered sugar to cover the sticky center. And the scissors won't work well trying to cut it - it will move under it like a rubberband.

Does it have to be marshmallows? It is a rather difficult medium to make figures out of. If you feel a bit experimental, try buying marshmallow creme(the one in a jar) and mix some with red food coloring until it turns pink. Then get a piping bag with a flower design(it's like a a triangle shaped one with very small base) and you'll need to learn how to make roses with the piping bag. Usually to make a rose you'd need to press some out while rotating to make a multifoliate rose. Then dust with cornstarch or icing sugar. A better medium to use would be fondant.

I made snowmen by cutting the marshmellow into the desires shape and toothpicking together. they were easy so maybe u can do roses...
