~$1 trillion in Iraq and counting, and it's all borrowed money. I'd have to say no to any entitlement programs.

Oh my god Triviaguy and Procrimminal the sky is falling. Again! First of all the war is not an entitlement. It's one of the things specifically pointed out in the Constitution that we can declare and fund. Secondly, the Bush tax cuts are bringing an accelerated rate of money into the treasury. We heard the same scare mongering in the 90's about going broke until Newt Gingrich and the 1994 election for the House brought us a Republican majority for the first time in 40 years. If we keep Bush's tax cuts we'll be out of debt before the decade is over. The treasury is flush with money coming in because of those tax cuts. Charley Rangel played his hand early and showed the American people what the Dems will do when they take office. Raise taxes. Do that and the booming economy takes a header. Back to you Triviaguy. Your synapse are misfiring. Try again! If you can think of something truthful and intelligent, you get a banana.

We can't afford any more wars but we better damn well finish any one we get involved with. Two things we should scrutinize with open minds are entitlement and pork barrel. Every one of those should be presented to Congress and the President to stand on its own merit and not attached to Defense, Education or other bills. And the presenter should explain the reason for asking for an appropriation. As citizens, lets battle for no more waste. The DEMS this session haven't!!

While I do not agree with current spending practices of government how can they be expected to control spending when the American people vote for every spending measure on the ballot?! During the last 2 elections in my state every single spending measure is overwhelming approved. I don't get it, these are probably the same people that say federal and state deficits are too high. Where do people think the money comes from to pay for these programs most of which are funded with bonds and no tax increases or cuts in spending elsewhere.

War is our most expensive and worthless entitlement program. The Haliburtons and BlackWaters get plenty out of it but the people get nothing.

And since we are running a deficit future generations of Americans will be the ones to pay.

And a good deal of the "economic growth" that the President likes to brag about is due to the war in Iraq. And as I said that will all be paid for by future generations.

To see exactly how much it will cost them go to the link below.

Good question!
What will happen when the middle class can no longer afford to take care of themselves and their families?

Sure we can! Most of the Vietnam surplus stuff we have could dust anybody. The trick is, this time we keep it. Don't keep blowing your blood and treasure and giving it all back! From now on, we keep it. If the natives don't like, we kill them. Too bad. Do you realize how rich we could be by now?

We're already borrowing money from other countries. A first in a long time. We're going broke.

America is broke. They owe China so much money if China came collecting and wanting their money. America would have to sell everything to pay them off.

Politicians think we can, but as a middle class American, I say not at all. I think we're all feeling strains now.
