Everyone has good points....But Daytona is like Superbowl is to football. If you have the chance to go...then do it. But there are also other race tracks that have better views and are just as good as Daytona.
When you go there is only one thing I recommend....rent the headsets! The races are so loud you can't really hear the announcers. W/ the headsets you can listen to the race like you are sitting at home in front of your TV & you can scan and listen to the drivers talking back and forth w/ their crew cheifs and spotters....Dale Jr is a good one to listen too and Tony Stewart is a good one to listen to too.

I agree with the others, Charlotte is a great race to see. But Daytona is an experience that every race fan should see. Try and get seat in the front stretch. The back stretch seat aren't very good. The 2008 500 will be the 50th, so the atmosphere will be electric. If you can go, go.

Sure if you like being over charged for everything. Daytona is a good race but much better viewed on T.V.. If you want the best Nascar experience go to Charlotte for the Allstar race and Coke 600. The atmosphere in Charlotte is electric. You can go to all the race shops and go to the Speed Streets festival. Downtown Charlotte is shut down for 4 days for a huge street party with tons of national and local bands, loads of Nascar related stuff, and it's free.

Its gonna be a huge historical race the 50th annual Daytona 500, tickets prices are going to be to the roof...Go to Altlanta, darlington or hit the July race in Daytona...Theres great history there, I'm gonna be there but thank god I don;t have to pay the mega ticket prices, my uncle is a offical but its gonna be a total media zoo..The race is already 70% sold out..I love Daytona, but this race is not going to be the best race for a first timer..Its a great race to go to, plan on it in 2009.. Go to Atlanta, listen to Snake, or go to Darlington, or even Charlotte.
Go Dale Jr & Hms in 2008

Daytona is the Cat Daddy of them all. If I were to pick one race to go to in my life if would be the Daytona 500.

For your first race, you will probably enjoy it and be amazed no matter what track you go to. The best tracks to see the whole race, though are the shorter ones, because you can see all the action from any seat. Darlington, Richmond, Martinsville, or Bristol would all be good choices for a first timer.

Personally I love going to Daytona and recommend it and Talladega as great tracks to visit at least once. I've never sat in the stands because I am normally in the infield so I can't help you there.
have fun
