Don't add as much flour

Brown sugar makes them cakier and white sugar makes them crisper. Butter (or too much of it) makes them flatten out.

no baking powder and 1 egg instead of 2, more milk to thin the dough.

I prefer to add slightly more sugar ... make them more chewy.
