Gelson's or Whole Earth. That's where I'd go!
If you're a big spender some 1st class restaurants will sell you one.
Have a drumstick on me!

Ignore the person who said turkeys always have additives etc. If you buy a turkey fresh (no easy to do this time of year but frozen ones without any additives can be found). It will be much better than say processed turkey lunch meat or sausage type meat which has plenty of added flavorings, preservatives, sodium etc. Of course the Butterball brand and similar types do have added oil and salt (not butter) and are always gross and I never buy them. Once in awhile I will buy a frozen turkey and cook it in my slow cooker. Even one on the small side say 8-10 pounds makes enough meat for sandwiches using the breast, the shredded meat from the thighs and drumsticks can be used in all kinds of things like casseroles, burritos, soups etc. I use the carcass to make stock with carrots, celery, onions and spices added. After a long simmer it's strained and put into freezer bags for use later on. That turkey costs me less than a dollar a pound in most cases.

Depends on where in Cali you are?

If you have a local Deli that you KNOW has good food then that might be the best place at the best price. Like an old school deli where they roast their own turkey for turkey sandwhiches. (Sorry I do not know where you live). Here in San Diego there are such places and you should have such places in or near any major cities. For all I know you live in the sticks! lol!

After that you can try Ralphs which will be OK or if you can afford it then Whole Foods would be an excellent choice. Whole Foods is good but super costly.

Whole Foods Market- I did it last year- just know that you still have to "finish" cooking to brown and suff- additional hour or two in your home kitchen is necessary- because they want you to get the best

Vons does a great job. And they dont kill you on the price like some of the "high end" markets.
