If Ephesians 2:8 says that we are saved by faith, which is the gift of God, and 2 Thessalonians 3:2 says that not all people have faith, then doesn't that mean that God didn't even give me a chance? If I don't have that gift, how can I believe? And if I can't believe, how can I be saved?

katy - you think I should beg something I don't believe in to help me believe in him? Seriously now.

So, the Christian consensus seems to be that the Bible is wrong and that faith is not a gift from God, but rather something I have to go and get.

Religious faith is dogmatic and irrational. Why would God want his saved people to have that?

We place turmoil into our relationship with God, sometimes it is unnecessary.

No, it doesn't mean that God did not give you a chance. He gives all a chance to be saved it is up to us, it is our choice, His way or the way of Satan.

Our Faith is a gift of God to all person's. Our Faith comes by hearing the word of God. But, Faith without good deeds is dead.

In essence we can have Faith, but if you really wont to act on that Faith, then good deeds are a must. God will bring this to your attention a little farther down the road.

For one thing the Word of God says only when we look for Him with all our hearts will He come to us. The other thing is to ask yourself what you believe, what you question, and don't make excuses, by which I mean avoid rationalizing everything. Not everything has to make sense all at once. Some of the most amazing discoveries we make on our own are ones that require a lot of thought. God bless!

this passage says that we are saved through grace, it is a gift, even our faith- however gifts need to be taken when given. It is your choice if you exercise the faith that He gives us. in Thess. it does say that not all people have faith= that means those faith chose not to receive the gift. how sad is that?

Well I would try to give a well thought out answer but all the Christian will give me TD because I don't agree with them
What I will say is open your mind and your heart and look inside you. The answers are there. Don't think that God is the only answer

The scriptures says that "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God". The gift is grace not faith. Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God. Read and study the Bible and you will start developing faith.

Faith is your choice to believe.

We all have the gift of faith - it is whether we choose to use it, and how.

hey sweetie...it sounds to me like you were not taught the truth from the BIBLE, but if you can bear with the length of this it will show you. this is the plan of salvation plainly laid out in the BIBLE if you haven't done this, you need to my friend. now we know without faith it is impossible to please God so all these are a part of coming to, developing, and demonstrating faith in Christ.

HEAR: Romans 10:17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.

BELIEVE: Mark 16:15-16 He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

REPENT: Luke 13:5 "I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish."

CONFESS: Romans 10:9-10 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

BE BAPTIZED: (since Satan has confused this part of salvation so that is debated by many, here are passages that talk about it directly...just so there is no confusion)
>>Mark 16:16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
>>Acts 2:38 Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
>>Acts 2:41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.
>>Acts 8:12 But when they believed Philip as he preached the good news of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
>>Acts 8:13 Simon himself believed and was baptized. And he followed Philip everywhere, astonished by the great signs and miracles he saw.
>>Acts 8:36 As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, "Look, here is water. Why shouldn't I be baptized?"
>>Acts 9:18 Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul's eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized,
>>Acts 10:47 Then Peter said, "Can anyone keep these people from being baptized with water? They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have."
>>Acts 10:48 So he ordered that they be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked Peter to stay with them for a few days.
>>Acts 16:33 At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his family were baptized.
>>Acts 19:5 On hearing this, they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus.
>>Acts 22:16 And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.'
>>Romans 6:3-4 Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
>>Galatians 3:27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
>>Colossians 2:12 having been buried with him in baptism and raised with him through your faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead.
>>1 Peter 3:21 and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a good conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ...
again sorry this is so long, but what do YOU think? how do you come to faith?
