When I was younger I grew up with Kidney Reflux and I had constant and serious kidney infections. So I would call myself an expert on kidney pain. Hopefully you are taking medication, some kind of antibiotic. I was on a sulphate type, which really helped and kept the convulsions down. If you let the infection go for too long, you can develop a dangerously high fever and start to convulse. So I hope you're not relying on home remedies to cure it, because they won't work. The infection is in your kidney's which generally means you started with a bladder infection and it has travelled up your ureter into the kidneys. There is no way to cure it at home, it'll just get worse and you'll damage your kidneys permanently. However, to ease the pain I found that drinking lots of water and eating fruit helped. Apples and pears are usually the best. Milk is also very good. This might flush your system and help dilute the infection. Cranberry juice is probably the best.

You can drink a lot of water, which will flush your kidneys out. But the bacteria will still be there. Why not see your doctor, and get a course of antibiotics? An untreated kidney infection can lead to major problems. Home remedies just don't work anywhere like antibiotics do. It amazes me, when I think that until World War 2, these wonderful drugs were not invented, and people used to die from simple infections. Now, they are freely available, and people decide not to use them - seems crazy to me. Just get the A/B's , take them, and you'll be fine.

Before a brief explanation of kidney function and tests, a few home remedies are:
Not just plenty of water, but buy alkaline drops at the health store and use 2-3 drops in each glass of water.
This can often resolve the problem before antibiotics become necessary.
Also cranberry juice is highly recommended.
Probiotics are an excellent way to detox your whole digestive system as well as liver, kidneys, pancreas etc.
You may inquire at a health store about many other herbal remedies.
If interested, reask your question and I'll recommend many specific inexpensive herbs. Oh, and aloe vera if you can get the pure gel is the best there is. But pretty hard to find.
Beware! Most marketers really dilute the heck out of it, making it worthless.
Kidney function involves:
removing metabolic waste from the bloodstream
regulating water balance in the body
maintaining the acidity/alkalinity of body fluids
Both blood and urine tests can determine if kidneys are functioning properly. Blood tests to assess kidney function are often ordered along with liver function tests to monitor patients who are being treated with certain arthritis medications.
Blood Tests For Kidney Function
BUN (Blood Urea Nitrogen) is a blood test which assesses kidney function. Urea is a by-product of protein metabolism and is formed in the liver. Urea is filtered from the blood by the kidneys and excreted in the urine.
Serum creatinine is a blood test which is also used to evaluate kidney function. Creatinine is a by-product of creatine which is involved with muscle energy metabolism. A relatively small amount of creatine in the body is converted to creatinine daily. Creatinine, the metabolic waste product from the conversion, is filtered from the blood by the kidneys and excreted into urine.
Blood creatinine is normally kept quite stable by the kidneys. Creatinine levels in the blood become elevated if kidney function is impaired. Although age and gender affect normal values of creatinine, the stability of a person's blood creatinine level make it a preferred test to BUN for evaluating kidney problems.
Urine Tests For Kidney Function
Urinalysis is the most simple of urine tests which are used to screen for kidney problems. A simple dipstick can detect the presence of glucose, protein, ketones, or bilirubin in the urine as well as the acidity or alkalinity of the urine, indicators of potential kidney problems. The appearance of the urine is always noted with a urinalysis. Cellular abnormalities can be detected microscopically.
Urea clearance is a test which uses a blood specimen to determine the level of urea present in the blood and two urine samples, the second being collected one hour after the first urine sample. This test detects how much urea is filtered by the kidneys into the urine.

This application allowed me to take administration of my wellness. I went from point 4 to point 3 kidney ailment. It became ordinary to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in greater desirable ranges. Reversing Your Kidney ailment?

A lot of people are allergic to Sulpha drugs, like one of the people before me recommended. It is best to go see your doctor, becvause it seems like you don't get UTI's very often. Cranberry will help keep an infection away, but it won't cure you once you have one.
