Almost every night when i sleep i wake up around 5am with a shooting pain on my outer thigh. Sometimes it feels prickly and moves up into the side of my butt cheek. I keep attempting to stretch it and massage it out, but it will not go away! There is a bump where it sits too...right above the kneecap on the side of my leg. Anyone that can tell me whats going on will just make my week!! thanks.

There are a number of possibilities as to what could be causing this. Based on your symptoms part of this sounds related to the sciatic nerve which runs from the hip area and down the leg.

I would recommend seeing your doctor for further evaluation of the situation to see what they think could be going on.

Go and get an assessment from a physio. Well it sounds like you've already seen a physio. So I would say go someone qualified to do sports massage. They don't just give you a massage but can also give you strengthening exercises and some PNF stretching. I would also go to an orthatist or podiatrist about the fallen arch and get an assessment. They may need to put an insole in your shoe. You will need to look at your cross training of course. I hope you find a good therapist.
