Okay. My husband just recently got his father's death certificate from him mother. On the certificate it reads Manner of death It has a check next to pending but that is marked out and it has two Xs next to Accident. It also has pending on Immediate Cause of death, only to be marked through and replaced by Massive Head Injury. From the moment my father in law died (Aug 28, 1989) there were doubts that it was an accident. Is there any way that my husband can ask for this case to be reopened and looked at as a homicide? Thank you in advance.

You would have to provide some pretty convincing evidence of homicide to have the case reopened. Just "I don't think this is right" is speculation and not enough.

YOU CAN ALWAYS REQUEST TO REOPEN A CASE. I WOULD GET A COPY OF THE CASE AND DO A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE INFORMATION AND THE ACTUAL RECORD OF THE ACCIDENT AND SEE IF PIECES ARE MISSING.
PENDING: AUTOPSY
XX ACCIDENT (CAUSE OF)
XX MASSIVE HEAD INJURY ?

AS A DIRECT RESULT OF THE ACCIDENT OR SOMETHING ELSE. WAS THE WOUND CONSISTENT WITH THE ACCIDENT OR WAS THE WOUND THERE BEFORE THE ACCIDENT.(WOUND TO BACK OF HEAD NOT FRONT WHICH IS CONSISTENT WITH A FRONTAL ACCIDENT)
