Madelyn Murry O'Hare is responsible for a lot of that. She was the one who insisted Bible reading in schools and prayer in schools, violated the rights of those who did not want to participate. This made it impossible for those who wanted to participate to do so. It also eliminated the chance that some of those who did not want to participate, from hearing the word of God and experiencing a new birth in Christ. The Bible says that anyone who would mislead a child, would be better off having a mill stone tied around his neck and he be tossed into the sea.

As far as retribution is concerned for those who choose to disobey God, that is His job and He has said that He will take care of that. We can only pray that a national or even world wide revival will take place and people will return to God.
