What are you looking at? You shouldn't be looking at the Church or others. Non Christians see this sort of things and criticise us.
Look at Jesus. It is as we look at Him that we are changed to be more and more like Him (read the book).

Yes, we do need to be praying, devil stomping, mountain moving, blood washed and blood pleading Christians. You show how it is done to those around you. They will see you (without you saying a word) and wonder what you are doing - you then get them to look at Jesus too.

Games? Jesus sat kids on his knee and told them stories, played with them and had fun. He didn't teach them that Satan was under their feet and that they could do all things through God who gives them the strength and the power. Teach them? yes! But through games, stories and His life.

1 Corinthians 13:11
"When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me."

Why mess with God's design and trip up the kids? there will come a time to mature. then the battle will begin. raise them up in the knowledge of God and his love. then when they are grown it will not leave them.

Proverbs 22:6
"Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it."

i have been struggling with the same question.
at my church, it seems as though one of the main focuses is on games and how to make church "fun".

i feel as though there should be some form of activity in which the kids enjoy doing, but it should also encorporate the word of God.
sometimes in order to relate to kids and youth we must have things they enjoy doing and what is being taught must be practical in their everyday lives.

but also, playing games is not going to raise up a strong generation of believers.
if we want the kids and youth of today to become prepared and equipped to live strongly in their adult lives, we better start really teaching the word of God and stop messing around.

No. Attendance will dry up among the soccer mom crowd. Churches compete with so many other amusements that they would completely lose out by adopting a hard core approach like that.

A church that has gone bankrupt doesn't save any souls.

Not unless you want to loose their interest.
Children need more today to keep their interest.
Many express boredom. I say anything clever that will be wholesome and interesting to bring them to church is worth the effort, such as a youth group.

I believe children should be present in church with parents helping them to understand what is happening and how to behave.

I was brought up that way and it made me want to know more. I loved going to church as a child, thought it was great.

The games, coloring books, and other silly distractions given to children are a detriment and hinder their spiritual growth.

Yes, I agree. Why should the little mongrels have fun. Better to tell them a load of garbage. Let them see a mountain move, take them to an earth quake. Make sure that YOU are very close to it.

Well you should always make the bible presentable to children...... but all play and no God is wrong.... The question you need to ask yourself is do you want to attract kids or repel them.... Jesus always would preach to kids..... im sure that his stories were very interesting.... wouldnt you agree?
