the Bible doesn't make a guess work out of it, it is written "from the tree of knowledge the fruit you shall not eat" whether apple is the right translation for the fruit is irrelevant it was the knowledge of the difference between good and bad that they would gain that would have them banished for they were given everythin they were so innocent that they didn't even know that they were naked, until they ate of the fruit of the tree of knowledge, and they quickly made coverings for themselves and when God called to them, they did what children often do when they know they did something wrong, they hid and when they did come out God saw the coverings and He knew instantly that they had disobeyed Him and this made Him sorrowful because according to the scriptures He would visit His new creation maybe to teach them...witchcraft is a whole different subject not related to religion or spirituality.

We don't know for sure but it was fruit on a tree, so I
picture a larger than average size, red, shiny, juicy
apple. That would intice most people to want to eat
it. Actually, it doesn't really matter what the fruit was, it's
the fact that God forbid eating from this particular tree.
Many other fruit trees were put in the Garden of Eden for them
to eat from, so they had other choices in tune with God's instructions. We do that today with making choices we
know from the Bible are against God's instructions. Sin
is now rampant in this world. I know it makes God sad
but the goodness of God gave us all free will to live as we
want and make choices every day.

The two trees described are the Tree of Life and the Tree of Knoledge of Good and Evil. The forbidden tree was considered the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. If humans know good and evil, they then judge others based upon these factors, rather than upon life. Remember the phrase, "judge not, lest ye be judged"?

No it was the tree of life and the fruit was some fruit that was not native to earth. It was brought with Adam and Eve.
For others who ate of it later who captured Eden, their life force was not sustained as Adam and Eve's was.

The Bible doesn't give the specifics, so I therefore have no need to know, but I would speculate that it was some obscure fruit that has long been extinct and forgotten about.

The forbidden fruit was a test. They failed, but it was God's test, not witchcraft.

She did not eat an apple, as many were taught in Sunday School. The key to understanding what really happened is to identify two "trees" in Genesis 2:9.
God's Word abounds with figures of speech, symbolism, Hebraisms, metaphors, and types: the seven churches in the Book of Revelation.
On the one hand, if I said to you, I'm going to paint the town red tonight, you would probably understand this figure of speech.
On the other hand, if I said the above to someone from China, for instants, he might think I'm going to grab a bucket of red paint, a brush, and paint the town red.
And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life (Christ), also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil (satan). Genesis 2:9
And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent (satan) beguiled me (wholly seduced ... took her virginity) and I did eat. Genesis 3:13
PS God’s children parish form lack of knowledge. Study to show yourself aproved.

They have become like one of US? US who? Sounds like more than one. Could these gods have had eternal life and decided that if mankind had the same knowledge as the gods that they would be equal and who would they have to worship them. Just a thought. Jesus said I and my Father are one. He was the first born of many brethren, which makes Him our elder brother. So doesn't that make us all equal in Gods eyes?
