My friend has that problem with her Westie and she takes a small jar of MEAT babyfood and smears a small amount on the dry food. The Westie LOVES it.

Hills Science Diet carries this in dry and in wet form. If you are using dry...try putting some chicken broth on it. If you are not using wet and the broth doesnt work....ask your vet if the wet form can be substituted or even mixed with the dry. Dogs like to eat things that also smell good just as we humans do and this food does not smell good...you may even try warming it in the microwave. This may give the food a different smell...as well as taste.
Because your dog has been diagnosed with a kidney disease you must be careful what you intorduce to him now.

I'm assuming you're trying to feed the dry form of K/D. I believe Hills also makes a canned K/D for canines. Try adding some of that to the dry. It should add some interest.
Otherwise you can ask your vet about adding something flavorful like the IAMS gravy as another answerer suggested, but I'd tend to think that would defeat the purpose of the diet. You can also ask your vet about trying another kidney diet. Perhaps Purina NF? It's worth a try. Good luck.

you need to not mix any more protein into the dog's food.. the diet your veterinarian has recommended is a prescription food that is specially formulated to reduce the work the kidneys have to do by processing protein. there are a few different prescription foods you can try. Hills k/d comes in dry and canned versions.. Iams/Eukanuba makes a dry only early and advanced stage kidney diet. Purina makes a canned and dry NF. Royal Canin makes Remal LP or Renal MP (for low protein, medium protein) in canned and dry forms, and IVD/Royal Canin also makes a diet called Modified. it comes in canned and dry forms. You can look up these brands online.. you can only purchase the food from a veterinarian due to the fact that they are prescription diets.

The last thing your dog needs is a diet high in carbohydrates from grains. I understand that a diet with reduced protein is recommended for animals with reduced kidney function. If you check on the linked website you will see that most raw meat and offal ranges from 16-18% protein. This is less than most kibble and a raw diet is much more easily digested too.

Get some fat-free lo-sodium chicken or beef broth.
Or try mixing a little water-packed tuna or salmon in it.
CAUTION: Very little is needed, just to get the flavour.
His kidneys cannot process much protein.

you at the instant are not interior the incorrect section, from what i've got seen, some human beings manage their little ones with much less admire than that with which you look to deal which contain your dogs. in case you sense your dogs is your "toddler", whats up, best for you. I in basic terms had to declare that. I have no suggestion -- i do no longer know what a dogs with a kidney situation can consume, and that i do no longer desire to furnish you the incorrect infomation. maximum suitable of effective fortune.

here is the proper way to transfer your dog from one food to another.
The first week or two you feed 25% new with 75% old. Yummy he will not even know.
Next up we go 50% old with 50% new. Yummy got a bit of a differant taste but still yummy.
Do that one for 2 to 3 weeks.
Then you switch to 75% new 25% old. Hey now something is different but well maybe not. I dunno seams like a different tast.
do that for another 2 to 3 weeks or longer if needed.
After than cut out old food all together and bam your dog loves he new food and does not miss the old.

eeeeww Hill's is a terrible food. it is nothing but fillers and animal by products. Try out a raw meat diet. it really helps.

You could try some of that gravy mix that IAMS makes. My dogs love it on their dry food.
