I already know purina sucks. I just want to know they say. "If your dog eats purina dog chow it will live longer than it would if it was fed ( )

I've wondered this as well.

The only thing I can find on their website about any "study" is where the dogs where fed the same food, just different amounts. But that doesn't mean that "Purina Dog Chow extends the life of the dog". It just says that if you have your dog maintain a healthy weight, it will live longer than if it is overly skinny or overweight. (Which is common sense! For both dogs AND humans.)

Nah, maggot infected chicken toes would be better for a dog than purina dog chow.

When I had dogs, all I fed them was Purina Pro Plan, which seemed great. I don't know about Dog Chow, but it is probably good for the price. I always liked Purina=)

I think there are maggot infested chicken toes already in the purina.. thats what the "meat byproducts" could possibly consist of.

Probaly Old Roy or some other store brand food like kibbles n bits (now that stuff is really bad) and maybe even pedigree. Also depends on when they think a dogs life normally ends? 7 is considered sr and I've had labs that lived to 13 on Sam's Club "NutriCare" (I feel sick just thinking about now). Perhaps its one of those vague statements that they don't have to be able to prove.

Actually, Purina is a really good nutrition company and leads in a lot of nutritional studies. I believe that the study they are referring to in the latest adds are 'keeping a dog at a healthy weight...' (read the fine print!) And yes, they did a study that showed that labradors of a healthy body weight live on average 2 years longer than an overweight dog. That said, dog chow is lower end dog food, altho it meets all the nutritional requirements, it is not the best food out there. Purina One and Pro-Plan are better (also cost more) and Purina makes prescription diets that can only be sold by vets and in my opinion, those foods kick Science Diet in the butt. As for cat food, Purina is cutting edge and I respect them for making a commitment to increase the protein levels in their cat food, because they did studies that proved that cats, because they are carnivores, need more protein than we usually give them. Other companies are still sitting back and letting cats get overweight on their high carb foods. Don't dis Purina, they are leaders in animal nutrition and whatever food you think is best, the studies that they based their recipe on probably came from Purina's billions of dollars of research.
(from a vet who's read the studies)

well the ppl who feed the dogs this food don't exactly compare its more of a educated guess they put healthy ingredents in dog food slap a sticker on the box/bag and ppl buy it its common marketing no one really knows if it does extend the life of your dog because that dog may just have a good life span as opposed to another dog of the same type........ hope i helped

Dog Chow is OK in the food line up. It is much better than the good old Walmart Ol'Roy that food is nothing but fat and filler.

I would feed a high quality dog food like Eukanuba, Hills, Iams.

Some people feed a raw food diet also. I am not one for that because dogs and get the same thing humans get. E.Coli, salmonella ect....

Some feed cooked food. diets. where there dogs eat what ever they eat that night. If they ave steak Bake potatoes green beans then the dog does too.

I personally find that Purina works much better than {feeding shards of broken glass}. Makes the coat look better too! My puggle-shih-doodle-dor loves it!
