here are a few there are many more including capitol punishment (Exodus 22:18-25) 18 “You must not preserve a sorceress alive. 19 “Anyone lying down with a beast is positively to be put to death. 20 “One who sacrifices to any gods but Jehovah alone is to be devoted to destruction. 21 “And you must not maltreat an alien resident or oppress him, for YOU people became alien residents in the land of Egypt. 22 “YOU people must not afflict any widow or fatherless boy. 23 If you should afflict him at all, then if he cries out to me at all, I shall
unfailingly hear his outcry; 24 and my anger will indeed blaze, and I shall certainly kill YOU with
the sword, and YOUR wives must become widows and YOUR sons fatherless boys. 25 “If you
should lend money to my people, to the afflicted alongside you, you must not become like a usurer
to him. YOU must not lay interest upon him. . .
(Exodus 22:28) 28 “You must not call down evil upon God nor curse a chieftain among yourpeople.

They did not have prisons in those days, so the only way to stop the spread of evil was to annihilate the wrongdoer. Jehovah knows the heart, so what ever he does is right.
I like Adam's Rib's explanation, in that God considered them unworthy of eternal life. Jehovah is a loving God because he provided protection for the widow and the fatherless boy. That alone should instill love for the Creator in the hearts of the many single mothers and fatherless boys in our society.

It seems God was talking to a certain peoples in Egypt. We
will leave His punishments up to Him. Where the Bible speaks, Christians should speak; but where the Bible is
silent, we should be silent. Bringing this all down to today,
I feel the punishment should fit the crime. For instance, if
teenagers have a foodfight in the school cafeteria, I believe
the correct punishment would be for each of them to stay
and clean up the walls, tables, floors in that cafeteria until
it is in the shape it should be.........not dismissed for the day,
or expelled from school for 3 days, or put in jail (that kind
of punishment would not fit the crime). Whatever God does
however, will always be "just".

All that stuff ended with the perfect and eternal sacrifice of Christ on the cross.
The new covenant, universal church is now the sole God ordained governing authority for Christians, and the penalties you cite are not a part of the church's new covenant system of things.

God is not unjust, which is why the Bible cannot be his word. For death to me meted out for the list of stuff in the Old Testament, God would have to be unjust. Since he isn't, it can't be his word.

god is good
he said "do not kill"
his laws are good
and if anyone says that he said to do something that he did not say to do then they are lying it is that simple regardless of where you find the lies they are what they are

i guess... it doesnt matter at all... because if you truely ask for forgiveness... you get into heaven no matter what....right?
prisons are full of people that deserve to die. yet.. it is also full of the same people that believe they are still going to get into heaven, kind of makes heaven not so hard to get into doesnt it?
how bout as a race...we just dont do those things to each other...treat each other the way we want to be treated...and we wont have to worry about it
