They get them from their pastors and because they're convinced by the circular logic, they think everyone else will be too. It's called second hand thinking.

????.... Well I'm not religious but i do believe in god. Any way i have friends and family members that are very religious but i have never heard them say inappropriate similes and/or analogies.

Cause they are just that "religious".
True believers just spill it out and let you make your own choices. However, some people just have that way of explaining things. They can'not help it. It is all they know how to do it

Usually religious people, and their arguments, are driven by faith and not necessarily logic. To a non-religious, logical person, these arguments seem inappropriate and sometimes ridiculous.
