I've donated to a couple of charities so far. My work schedule won't allow me to volunteer, but I wondered how other people are giving back during this holiday season.

I do free counseling online everyday and also person to person when the situation lends itself. The holiday season can be very difficult for a lot of people.

I also have been involved in Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child for many years and this is the first year I have missed it (for a good reason). There is a real void in my life knowing I will have to wait another year to fill my boxes for the kids. : (

But, when I finish moving, I will be volunteering at my church and in my community (as I have always done where ever I have lived).

Giving monetarily in a big way is something I do when my bank accounts lets me. This year, after the sale of my home, I will be donating to the nearest food bank. To me, there is no reason why anyone in this country should ever go hungry, not one.

I volunteer at Animal Control. On the holidays the kennel staff have to work (the animals have to be fed and cleaned on the holidays too). So on Thanksgiving and Christmas I take the workers plates of food and goodies to eat while they have to work.
