Cilantro works great - use just a little bit for a real kick. Chopped jicima is a crunchy extra. Add some corn and kidney beans to a lettuce and diced tomato salad. Make it a BBQ salad by mixing your favorite BBQ sauce with Ranch dressing (a little bit goes a long way), which is great with chicken. Top your favorite traditional salad with salsa instead of dressing. Salads are fun to experiment with, just throw your favorite ingredients together and see what you come up with.

Here you go:
1. candied nuts, dried cranberries/craisins and Good Seasons Italian dressing;
2. fresh or dried herbs; cottage cheese, vinegar and a little Ranch dressing;
3. SALSA or taco sauce and a little light sour cream;
4. strawberries (instead of tomatoes) with tart vinegar
YUM

Paul Newmans ranch dressing - might not be unorthodox but it gets the job done.

try putting 'other' veggies in them. like red onions, bell peppers, red bell and yellow bell peppers. you can add nuts, almonds, pecan, walnuts or even peanuts. berries, pickles and celery. fried wonton noodles, apples, pear and jalepenos.
