Personally, I like there be low lighting in the room. Preferably with candlelight or using a low lighting light bulb. You get the best of both worlds this way. There is enough light to see what you are doing and not too much light where you feel like you are sexing in front of an interrogation.

i like light but my gf is self conscious so would rather the lights off (never done it with the lights on at night but plenty of times in the morning and during the day)
