Hinduism did not produce the Dalits of Calcutta. The British did it. Dalits are there all over the world though not known exactly by the same name. In Sanatana Dharma, there is no caste division. The divinity within is there in each one of us. It is the vested interest which developed the caste system and the Dalits. Those who argue that it is Karma that makes one born as a Sudra are serving their own interests. So, it is not the religion. It is the people. In Bhagavad Gita, it is said that the Lord is the creator of the four divisions of labor based on one's tendencies. He did not create the caste division.

Also, it is said that one is a Sudra at the time of birth. Only by one's efforts one ascends through the learning process to become higher. I myself a Sudra finds nothing detrimental in learning the scriptures.

Why do you have so many denominations in Christianiy if your point is right?Have the white people ever accepted the colored in to their lives whole heartedly? They need them only until they convert to Christianity and then they will keep separate churches, separate nighborhoods, even separate grave yards. And the main point is why do Israelis call themselves the chosen people and their land the chosen land?Is it ignorance,is it arrogance or selective amnesia that provoked you to ask this question?Looks like you only read about Mother Theresa and Calcutta and so is your question about Calcutta without knowing anything about who are Dalits and Hinduism.Wake up and broaden your mind.

They are completely different mindsets and world views. The Hindus of course consider karma and reincarnations, but as a means of accomplishing all one needs to accomplish in order to achieve Nirvana. Think of it like going to school. You can't graduate until you've gone through 12 grades.

Because Christianity preaches that we are equal before the Lord while Hinduism teaches that your station in this life is somehow connected to your behavior in a previous life (so that if you are in an unfortunate situation, then you are not someone to be helped but rather someone who is working out karma from a past life).

you seem to forget that for centuries the church upheld the 'god given order' of feudal society. they declared that the hierarchy on earth reflected that in heaven, an autocratic monarchy, an aristocracy and serfs/slaves. it was only when the humanistic and classical philosophies began eroding the power of the church/christianity and the pagan greek ideas of democracy and freedom began to influence the middle classes that we began to move to a more equitable society. the christian hierarchy resisted tooth and nail. that is the earthly side of things. on the spiritual side i suppose they would claim to have equality in the eyes of their gods.

Christianity combined Judaism with Grecian philosophy.
Hinduism developed in a totally foreign culture.
