There are some Serious mistakes in a couple of the answers....I'll try Not to make this too long however. When something is slaughtered in a 'kosher' way, the name of GOD is pronounced at the beginning of the day of slaughter and at the end, but Not over each animal. For it to be halal, the name of GOD (ie; bismilah, Allahu Ahkbar) must be said for each animal....
Muslims are Generally allowed to eat food from Al Khitab (people of the book/Jews and Christians) but there are some scholars who say that specifically in the US although its assumed to be a Christian country, which would make the food ok, the butcher may be a buddhist or atheist, which would Not be ok.
There are also opinions that say that unless u know the food wasnt killed by a jew or christian, and u say 'bismilah' when u start to eat it, that that is ok also....so u see it depends on which ruling u take. Myself i will eat kosher food, as its about as close to halal as we can get often in the U.S....of course we dont worry about shellfish, and its one area of problems between muslims and jews and it is said that the jews take their scholars as God,....because they follow what they say and not what GOD has said...ie; making the lawful unlawful and making the unlawfu (wine) lawful. I hope that helped.

Can Muslims Eat Kosher Meat

2017-01-18 22:32:08 · answer #2 · answered by ? 4 · 0 0

I was told by a Muslim that the reason he could eat at my flat (I keep Kosher) was because we both follow "the laws of Abraham". I've known for a long time that Muslims will eat Kosher food. Although some Muslims I know say they can only eat Kosher food if they can't get Halal - I have a Muslim colleague although who will happily eat Kosher food if I bring it in to work as part of a team meal.

I guess because Kosher is more extreme than Halal. Whatever Halal has, Kosher covers it and far more, so under this large umbrella, Muslims are allowed to eat Kosher food. I have seen this myself, I once went to a store where this one woman with a hijab was stocking up on Hebrew National Hot Dogs. Also, during the "PLO" meetings that were held in Europe cities sometimes, the Arab representatives would book the Kosher meals, pretty ironic, huh?

So everything Kosher is Halal for Muslims? Well that's not how it works for us. For us we can only eat Kosher.

I bet both Kashrut and Halal freak out the Christians, they probably don't understand any of it, LOL.

The reason is that the rules governing Kosher food are slightly stricter than those governing Halal, so while Muslims can and often do eat Kosher, Jews can't really eat Halal.

Not all are. When I was a Muslim I remember there were fights about this. Some said you could eat anything as long as you do not know how it was slaughtered while others said you could eat both halal and kosher and others said you could only eat kosher. Since a lot of halal butchers kept getting caught selling non halal meat, a lot of Muslims would go and slaughter the animals themselves and have a couple of freezers to hold the meat.

I'm sorry Jasmine I don't understand your question in full? Allowed? Besides alcohol Muslims can also eat meat and cheese together, and fish. Some sects of islam think its 7aram to eat fish like catfish because of the hard scales on it or something like that. Cheers!

Shias consider some fish haraam. Within mostly the Hanafi School of thought, there is a strong position that shellfish (shrimp, lobster, crab, clams, etc.) are prohibited.

Aha mintee thankyou , now I understand the question!
Jasmine to my understanding only a Muslim can eat the meat slaughtered by another muslim and he must say the words, Bismallah (In the name of God) Cheers!

Peace, purely while Halal nutrition isn't obtainable purely and purely then are you allowed to consume Kosher...And if u are ravenous, and on a deliver and the sole skinny to maintain u alive is pork then u are allowed to consume that pork to outlive (to not a abdomen finished yet to outlive)...So the individuals of the books nutrition is merely halal while it rather is neccessity... human beings use the quranic verse of the individuals of the books nutrition is halal for u yet no its not speaking approximately customarily it rather is merely out of neccessity.. would allah advance every1 in awareness Peace

Hi Jasmine,
Khosher food is pretty much the same as Halal food with some small differences. I don't see any problem with eating it. Everything that is kosher (except alcohol) is Halal while not everything that is Halal is kosher.
Peace

From what I understand with the exception of Alcohol anything that meets the requirements of being Kosher is also Halal.
