i think they are afraid. afraid that the control is starting to wain in the population.
they are afraid.... education is becoming more important... than.....the controled "thruth" that they give.
and as the world continues to educate themselves, and more people convert to being a non believer...and teach their children to think for yourself...and treat people like you want to be treated.... because it just makes sense..
welll the world will change for the better.
and the mind control will cease.....its all about the control....and the power that comes from it. they dont want to lose their power

I don't think this can be said of ALL christians, although it is certainly true of SOME. However; you raise a most interesting point. I was raised a christian, even went to christian schools as a lad. About three years ago, I began listening hard to an evangelical preacher and also reading and studying the Bible WAY more than I had in the years since I left school. Today; I am agnostic because I am unable to find proof on either side of the coin. I challenge any christian to prove God's existence. I also challenge any Atheist to prove he doesn't exist. It cannot be done. Just food for thought but I sincerely believe the topic bears further discussion. What do YOU think?

True Christians have no bitterness towards anyone that does not believe as they do. If a Christian debates a nonbeliever that does not signify anger or bitterness-it shows the human side of the believer that desires to share and learn more through sharing or debate. No one can proclaim to know the facts of the Bible completly. Simply memorizing the words is rote memory, and fails to take the true context of the culture, history and symbolism of the text. The Bible is not all there is to Christianity-there is the daily walk with God.
I sincerely hope you learn more as you challenge how others believe, and that maybe you can evaporate a bit of your own bitterness for those that love God.

Most Christians I know don't know the Bible at all. They say incredibly bizzare things that are totally against the teachings of Christ and I am completely clueless as to where they get the ideas from.
One time I asked how Christ can be a prince of peace if he came to earth bringing "not peace, but a sword." Some jackass responded by saying that the sword of Christ would be used to cut through sin and reveal GODs glory or some crap like that. What? All I ask is that people know what they are talking about.
By the same token though, a lot of atheists talk about how science trumps faith, and then makes remarks that totally prove that they have no idea how science works. The door swings both ways, people.

Hell, that's the reason I love atheists. I learn more Bible verses more accurately from the knowledgeable atheists than I do from the knowledgeable Christians. In my experiences, more knowledgeable Christians have tried to push their own beliefs on a particular verse to me.
Most atheists tend to not include their bias, which would be the non-belief, when explaining a verse to me. This doesn't stand true for everyone though. Just a personal experience thing for me. I have a couple great Christian friends here on Y!A's who have never pushed my beliefs in any directions, just told me what I wanted to know.

Truth ? If there is bitterness they are NOT children of God...... I have NO bitterness, hate, discomfort or any such thing... I know that non-believers THINK they know the Bible, but the truth of the matter is, knowing WHAT it says and discerning the MEANING and BELIEVING God are two totally different things..... I know satan knows EVERY word in the Bible, his problem is that he *thinks* he knows what each word says to the believer, NOT !!!!! Believers do not read the Word of God to argue or torment others with it.... We read it to LEARN and to GROW in *faith* !!!! The Bible means nothing to the unbeliever, to the Children of God it means everything...... Non-believers are NOT expected to follow the Word, or be under the Word, they can NOT be, ONLY the believer KNOWS the TRUTH about Gods Word...... sooooo, it is NOT a mortal person these people, un-believers, will deal with, we, the Children of God, can ONLY reach out and pass on the Word, we have NOTHING to do with who or who does not *believe* God...... Mess with the Word, twist it, contort it, mock it, what ever, revenge is the Lords not ours....... go in peace..... God bless

Most non-Christians actually do know the Bible as good as, or better, in many cases, than the majority of Christians. They can't stand it. And they think we're the ignorant ones! lol!

I don't know that they feel bitterness towards us, but they certainly think we're going to Hell.
As for Bible knowledge, they seem not to have a lot of it; and my questions about the Bible god disturb them.
I sometimes wonder how much it would affect their minds if they really did have an extensive knowlege of the Bible -- because that was the catalyst for me...

They will just tell you that you must on "understand" the Bible if you have read it and still don't believe. You must be completly stupid not to believe what they do, but that's ok because they are here to save your from your poor pathetic self.
Thank the gods not all Christans are like that.
