My husband and I are going to have one day to ourselves this Friday in Sac. I would like some sugestions on hotels in the Old Town area that would be romantic. Also a good restaurant, maybe French in the area.
Thanks

The Sterling Hotel is at 13th and H streets, and is very nice. Call right away to see if they have any openings. That's the closest very nice hotel. Closer, but not too bad is the Holiday Inn, which is across from Old Sacramento, through the pedestrian, decorated, well-lit tunnel.

The last time I heard the Sterling also had a French menu, but ask about that, too, because menus change often. There are many very nice restaurants in Old Sacramento. The Delta King has good food, and cruises along the Sacramento River. The Firehouse is an area staple for excellent food, and there are more places with great food all through Old Sacramento. Walk around to see lots of them. If you have more questions, you can email me through my profile.

Embassy Suites is a new hotel in the Old Sacramento area and very nice. It's just across the bridge right along the river. I would recoomend it as the best hotel in that area.

The meltin pot is in the downtown area on 15th street and it a great romantic restaurant. It's a little pricey but if you can afford it I would definately recommend. Here is the website:

The Sheraton Grand and the Hyatt Regency are excellent hotels. As for the restaurant, I cannot think of any French places off the top of my head, but Paragary's in midtown is a great restaurant to go to (the outdoor dining is especially wonderful, complete with waterfall and fireplace!). Enjoy your day!
