I'm on 20 mg of prozac and I just took 25 mg of vistaril (just to test the affect, since I do have an exam tomorrow)
is this a safe combination?
...well it should be since the dr perscribed it.

Yes. 25mg of vistaril is a very low dose.
Your doc wouldn't have prescribed it if it wasn't safe (provided he knew you were also on the Prozac).

yes, Its safe. Vistaril and Prozac are for two differant problems but can be taken at the same time. But I wouldnt take the vistaril just because of a test... unless you have major anxiety.

It's safe but Vistaril can cause severe drowsiness. There are much better, more effective medications available.

No. You should not take both. Prozac 20 mg is a mild dose and you can increase it if necessary but mixing with Vistaril is not at all correct.
Vistaril (Brand name) is of base drug - Hydroxyzine depresses activity in the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord), which causes relaxation and relief from anxiety. Therefore, hydroxyzine is used to treat anxiety disorders and tension in stressful situations--before surgery, for example.
Hydroxyzine may also increase the effects of other medicines, such as pain relievers and sedatives, so it is useful after surgery also.
Hydroxyzine is also an antihistamine. It blocks the effects of the naturally occurring chemical histamine in your body. This makes hydroxyzine useful for treating allergic conditions, especially those that involve the skin, such as hives, itching, and rashes.
Many drugs may increase the effects of hydroxyzine and lead to heavy sedation. Before taking this medication, tell your doctor if you are taking any other drug. Antidepressants such as amitriptyline (Elavil), doxepin (Sinequan), imipramine (Tofranil), nortriptyline (Pamelor), fluoxetine (Prozac), paroxetine (Paxil), sertraline (Zoloft), phenelzine (Nardil), and tranylcypromine (Parnate).
