Is bread cubes the same thing as crutons. Because I am looking for stuffing recipes and it says to use bread cubes and I don't know what those are. Please help. Thanks.

Croutons are usually toasted to be crispy and dried. Bread cubes for things like stuffing are not usually toasted.

The recipe may also be talking about cubes of bread that you have cut up yourself. The stuffing recipe I use recommends using day-old bread (a loaf that has been sitting out open overnight). Day-old bread is softer than crutons, but not as soft as fresh bread obviously, so it works well in stuffing.

My mom just tears bread into bite size pieces. Those are her 'cubes' Her stuffing is delicious! Don't worry about buying special cubes, but you may want to try out the recipe before the big dinner to see if it works!

Crutons are usually more flavorful. Thats the only differnce. Look for a stuffing mix, Prepridge Farms makes some.

bread cubes are bread already cut for the person making stuffing had less work to do, you will most likely find it in the stuffing or brad aisle . you can buy it and add what ever you like , like stove top and such. don't use crutons they are made for salads.

yes, bread cubes = croutons

You can even use a few salad croutons in the mix, if you wish, as they are seasoned.

Most grocery stores that have bakeries sell a bag of "croutons" or "stuffing mix" that is just dry bread cubes/croutons so you dont' have to cut/dry them yourself. (for yummy dressing, look for sourdough bread cubes!)
