I know that he used to work for Human Life International, but seems to have resigned (or been fired) under a cloud of suspicion about finances. Does anyone know anything more about it or about him?

Any announcement starting with "Effective immediately" shows a level of impropriety.
Effective immediately is a legal term which would absolve the church of any actions that he was to do in the name of the HLI after the announcement.
The resignation claims health reasons, so we should be careful about jumping to conclusions.
