ok i live in Maryland

well, as i said i got a ticket apparantly i was going 90 mph in a 55 mph on the highway. oh and by the way, the officer was in an unmarked car ( possible undercover or something) and did not get my speed using any radar or anything.

Anyways, on the ticket there are places where the officer circles my offence like either speeding, seat belt, running stop light, red light etc. and
going over the speed limit" is one of the options and "reckless driving" is another option that he can circle. he only circled the "over speed limit option"

does this mean that i am not being charged with reckless driving? therefore they wont automatically suspend my licence?

if i go to court, and plead not guilty but really just apologize to the judge and do some *** kissing, what do you tyhink will happen?

Best case scenario - officer does not show up for court and case is dismissed.

Likely scenario - officer shows up, one pleas guilty and judge reduces speed from 90 to 84, which is 2 points and $225 fine (includes court costs).

Worst case scenario - judge looks at prior traffic history, finds one guilty and imposes 5 points and over $525 fine (includes court costs).

Time to consult with an attorney - $225 fine plus $300 attorney fee equals the potential $525 fine.

If he only circled over the speed limit that means you got a speeding ticket, be happy about that.

If you do go in front of the judge you had better have a good excuse for going at least 35 mph over the speed limit, if you try and bulls hit the judge you might find yourself in more trouble.

How many points do you have already? You’re going to get 5 more. At 5 points the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration will arrange a conference with you to discuss your driving record, if you have more then 8 points then your license may be suspended.

If you choose to contest the ticket you may do so by going to court. The ticket has the information that is necessary in scheduling a court date. If you do not appear in court your driver’s license will automatically be suspended and you may be jailed up to 60 days and a $500 dollar fine.

So if you contest the ticket, show up and give your side of the story, good luck.

They'll most likely let you go. If you have a nice clean driving record they will let you go. I just went to court for a speeding ticket last week, I was going 50 in a 30 zone. I went to the RMV and got my driving record. When I went to court I gave the judge the record, he said ok nice an clean record. He let me go without paying anything. You should try and get your driving record if it's clean lol, and bring it with you the day of court. Of course do some *** kissing ;). Good luck!

Blahh at all these ppl saying you'll lose your license. You won't so don't worry about it, jail time? NEVER! Don't stress it out, do what I said an you should be fine. I know from the past and my family members done the same and so has friend's never once paid the ticket. Well, maybe that's how it is here in Mass. After that ticket though, I invested in a Radar Dector :P. Good luck again!

Who knows ... maybe the judge will be in a good mood. Having said that, maybe you were doing 90 MPH and are just looking for a break? Pacing (tailgating to get your speed to use your words) is a valid way to track your speed. The officer's speedometer is calibrated frequently for just that purpose. If I were the judge, as soon as you started with "OK, I was speeding, but not as fast as the officer said" I would be thinking "Here we go again ... someone else who thinks I was born yesterday trying to pull the wool over my eyes ... how many times have I heard this line, 50? 100? 200?". In short, I would not be amused, and might tend to look to the high side of the penalty chart! Pay the ticket and watch your speed in the future. Will the 5 point violation be enough to put your license over points? If you driving record already has moving violations on it you may want to seriously reconsider your current plan.

I would say that you know you were speeding, but you contest the amount by which you were speeding. Offer to stipulate to 80 mph with no possibility of suspension and then pay your fine. If there is no proof that you were going 90, then the judge can probably accept a reduced plea. Just tell him You really don't think you were driving that fast but you are aware that you exceeded the speed limit. They will probably take the deal and not force the issue. But they'd probably be insulted if you went in there and tried to plead not guilty, especially if the officer shows up to testify. Good Luck

Well that will depends on the judge weather or not you will be charged with reckless driving or not. But with any ticket you can expect large fines and a hassle. If you plead "Not Guilty" and are found Guilty than the fines are going to be bigger and the hassle will be more. Next time I would suggest that you watch your speed and not get the ticket in the first place. That way you won't have to kiss judicial @ss. and you wont have to come up with the money to pay the court.

If the ticket has info where to send the fine just mail it in . When you go to court it is because you think you are innocent. Here your fine would be 80 plus 10 for every 5 miles over limit, call the number on the back to see what you need to do.

If you plead "not guilty" it will be a case of your word versus the officer's word. The judge will believe the officer unless you can prove you weren't speeding. Your best bet is to plead "no contest" and pay the fine (and attend traffic school if the judge orders it).

Pay the Fine and keep quiet. The cop did you a favor and only charged you with speeding.

listen to the poster named richard!! also i have one question: how do you know if he didnt have radar? also it doesnt matter if he was marked or unmarked
you should pay the fine, accept the punishment and be on with your life with lesson learned....dont go 35 mph over the speed limit and endager other motorists.
