I know fruit does, but do vegetables? I eat waaay to many carbs and I need more nutrients, so I'm trying to replace them with something low carb. I know fish is good. What about eggs? Meat too, but I eat that sparingly.

all fruits and vegetables have carbs in them. that is where we get the carb counts.

The carbs you need to cut down on are the ones from grains and cereals! Not fruits and veggies.

Not all carbs are created equally! Soft sweet fruits are almost pure sugar as are some veggies like potatoes, carrots, corn, peas, and dried beans.

Fish, chicken, eggs, and beef are not very high in carbs. Nor is cheese.

However things like milk, yogurt and cottage cheese are higher in carb counts.

I eat at least five servings of fruit and veggies a day. I also eat four or five servings of whole grains. I weigh about six pounds more than what I want, but that's only because I sill have baby weight. (My daughter is nine weeks old.) I'm eleven pounds heavier than what I was when I became pregnant, but I want to keep on the extra five pounds for breastfeeding.

It's my understanding that the bad carbs are refined white crap-- White rice, white bread, anything with "enriched flour" in it. I eat whole wheat bread free of corn syup, high fructose corn syrup and othe artifical flavoring. I am not worried. For breakfast today I had raisin bran (usually I have at least one whole grain, but not today); Lunch, semi-homemade veggie soup with two slices of whole wheat garlic toast (in lieu of margarine or butter, we use Smart Balance), a banana for a snack; Dinner Wraps with beans and veggies and brown rice on (in?) a couple of whole wheat toritllas. For my evning snack, I had a Trader Joe's granaloa bar.

I suppose that my intake today was heavy on carbs, but they were all fruits and veggies and whole grains. I'm not worried.

Just cut down on the starchy vegetables: potatoes, turnip, etc.
go for the low glycemic index ones, with the bright colours.
Choose lean meats, fish, beans, for protein.

I THINK THAT STARCHY VEGGIES POTATOES, AND CORN HAS A LITTLE BIT OF CARBS BUT I'M NOT SURE HOW MANY.
