See for yourself how downright deceptive the NIV is.
NKJV - Jhn 1:18 -No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.
NIV - Jhn 1:18 - No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only,,who is at the Father's side, has made him known.

While I use the NIV mainly, they are both good. In reality the NASB is actually the closest thing to the original that the average guy can get our hands on today, but it is a little difficult to read and never really caught on like the NIV. They are both good, but I believe the NIV is the more popular of the two. Remember the big thing is not just reading the Word, but living it out as much as humanly possible with the help of the Spirit.

Do you really mean proof IN the bible that one version is better than another? The NT has been around for 2000+ years. The OT? who says? One version in the English language cannot be said to be more accurate than another, surely. If you are a theologian or historian then you have a reasonable subject to investigate. A question which is not likely to produce a definitive answer here or anywhere else.

King James (& New King James) Version and NASB are literal translation from Greek and Hebrew. While other translations (e.g. NIV) use dynamic equivalence approach of translation. The goal of dynamic equivalence method is to transfer the same meaning and impact to a modern reader than the original would have to its original readers. Many Biblical scholars consider the dynamic equivalence concept, a highly questionable way of translating the Scriptures. By giving the meaning of the text rather than a translation of what it literally says, the translator goes beyond his role and becomes an interpreter.
Many modern translators feel that "word-for-word literalness" is unacceptable to the modern reader, and therefore they change it. Any such change, though, must be based upon the translators interpretation of what they believe the literal words mean.
It is the general consensus of conservative commentators that the literal meaning is the basis for interpretation. “To disregard the literal meaning would incur the charge of liberalism or cultism.”
The King James Version may be a preferred version because it’s a literal translation from the original language.

I have noticed that the NIV has completely wiped away all proof of black existence from The Bible.
One example of this: KJV Song of Solomon 1:5 Thru 6
5.I am Black but comely,..........
6 .Look not upon me, because I am black, because the sun hath looked upon me.
NIV Song of Solomon 1:5 thru 6
5.Dark am I, yet lovely,.......
6.Do not stare at me because I am dark, because I am darkened by the sun

Every Bible has its own unique perspective on things. Sometimes what we need is easier to find in certain translations. As long as it is a respected translation, there is NO one bible that is better than the other. They all tell the same story with the same motives. To tell you that God loves you and Jesus Saves.

If you like the KJV, stick with it. It is very beautiful. And to me, very narrative in truth. The problem with other versions is copy rights. They cant use the same words. That is a big loss.
