Who wants to have questions where you just post what you believe, with scripture or your own thoughts to back it up?

Rules would be:

short posts. Your own thoughts with a FEW relevant verses tha you base your answer on.

No cut and paste and NO LINKS

No comments on each others posts, except maybe to say "COuld you clarify what you meant by..."

No bashing!

We would take time just to ponder what each other has said- without making judgement (at least not posted publicly)

Best answers would be chosen by vote, with the best answer NOT being what you agreed with but for the person who has best shown an attempt at understanding and not bashing in their Yahoo conduct for the week.

I think we need to listen to each other and we need to try and understand where each other is coming from- without rushing in to try and prove who is right and who is wrong. I would enjoy just getting to know how we all think and what is important to each other, and how we form opinions.

So, If you are game, and would like to play by these rules I'll put out a starting question.

1. What do you think the goal of mortal life is?

My opinion- to reflect the character of Christ more and more every day. It's a difficult goal that won't be complete until we reach heaven- but something to be strived for anyway.

2. What is your big challenge this week?

mine- learning to conform my thoughts to what Christ wants.

My prayers to all who will be facing "difficult" times with relatives over Thanksgiving!

Whoa! That was confusing, lol.

I hate is when questioners don't pick BA's. I think it's lazy and an insult to the ones who really gave a good answer.

But I'm game. ^_^

I love this... Good stuff.

1. The goal of Mortal life- This life is a test. We are given trials and opportunities, to love and and to overcome, and our efforts inspite of the negativity around us will determine our place with our Father in Heaven. As a loving Father, He created this opportunity in order for us to gain knowledge and improve ourselves in every way. It's like University, in the sense that we go away from Home in order to get the degree, and find success in making the already obvious good choices.

2. My goal this week? Is to survive a major holiday with my family, in face of the fact that I never feel adequate when I am around them and all of their successes. It is to either avoid entirely or else to smile through a painful ritual of gratitude immediately after I have been told that I am not only sub-standard, but also unwanted. If I make it through this week without doing anymore damage to an already fragile relationship, then maybe I will survive Christmas too.

1. To gain a better understanding of the principles of happiness by experiencing what happens as we and others make choices.

2. To feel the love of Christ for some relatives I don't like being around.

1) This mortal coil is our opportunity to show our Father in Heaven that we can make righteous choices. Stand for truth, even when it's not popular. Seek out virtue and promote it within ourselves and our environment.

2) My challenge this week? As this week, we celebrate Thanksgiving, I am going to endeavor to have greater gratitude in my life. Not only in my relationships with my Father in Heaven and my Savior, but my family and the world around me. So, to further that end, I will be pondering and studying the condescension of God and remembering the great atoning sacrifice of my Savior and how it affords me the opportunity to be cleansed from sin. I will gather family and friends around me and be grateful for this beautiful world which was created for our use and see how I can tend my little corner and beautify it.
And I will play the glad game. -- I'm glad imasis started this twist on the forum and anticipate being uplifted and edified by all who love our Savior, Jesus Christ and seek to follow Him.

it was a good idea but the concept of "reporting" each other is ludicrous. Yahoo thought that the so-called "community" would police itself. The reality is that- because Yahoo don't even bother to READ the violations, or the reports- the whole site has become a playground for jealous, pathetic stalkers . I think the days of Yahoo answers are numbered, to be honest with you. What advertiser wants to be associated with THIS load of twaddle?

1. What do you think the goal of mortal life is?

"To do all things to the glory of God"- 1 Cor. 10:31

2. What is your big challenge this week?

"Be peaceable with all men"- Romans 12:18 My kids are home for school for a week and they already want to strangle each other... which makes me want to bite all their heads off :/

Commendable posting. Thank you.
1. We are in basic agreement. The goal of mortal life is to become like the Savior as much as possible and to help our brothers and sisters along the way to that same goal. "This is my work and my glory to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man." Therefore, if we are to become like Him, then we must assist one another along that same path, toward immortality and eternal life, "for when we are in the service of our fellow beings, we are only in the service of our God".
2. My biggest challenge is overcoming the natural man within me and becoming a spiritual being with my eye single to His glory and using my time effectively in doing good to all men.

I will give it a shot. Though I don't know how well I will be able to always contain my sarcasm. Hopefully I don't have to do that.

1. I think this life is a probationary state. It is a time to prepare to meet God. It is a time to prepare for eternity. This life is also the opportunity for us to receive a physical body. Without one we could never partake in the resurrection and receive a glorified and perfected body like our Father. This life is a chance for us to learn and grow and to progress towards becoming like our Heavenly Father.

2. My challenge for the week is to step outside my comfort zone when it comes to certain things.

I'm game- (and am glad to see that you are sticking to your promise :)
1. goal for mortal life:
to live Christ like lives and to learn all that we can about Him and how to be more like Him. I believe this earth life is our "test" period. Jesus has given us the gift of atonement, so all of us will essentially be able to go to heaven- but what we do on this earth will help determine how we will be rewarded in heaven. Earth life is our schooling years- just like our school years now are to prepare us for adulthood- this earth life is to prepare us for our eternity and to prove ourselves and our love and devotion to God and to Christ.

2: my challenge this week---to not pass judgement. i find myself doing this more and more with the little things. I'm pretty good about not passing judgement on the big things- but i tend to think things to myself (and sometimes say them out loud) about people and things. Like someones hygiene, how clean there house is- and stuff like that. I am far from perfect and definatley have my days of mess and other normal human tendancies and need to really work on that- because often when i am being judgmental, i am also being hypocritical. i figure if i work on the first, i will kill two birds with one stone! wish me luck!

This has been done since 1969 when the Internet was still under military control and called DARPA net. You should be looking in newsnets. old files are all archived somewhere.

But only posting our beliefs and overlooking others flies in the face of article 13 of the articles of faith.
