JUST SAY NO.
I've been telling people something like:
Go down this route and spend the rest
of your life worrying about how you
appear, spending long hours standing
around, potentially taking drugs to
make you feel prettier, etc...
If you're not carefull, you'll end
up basing your entire self worth on
your appearance.
And then being all washed up by 35.
I know I won't be able to convince you
not to go down this road so all I can
hope is that you might be one of the
lucky ones who can pull this off and
have a happy life.
I strongly suggest you develop other
interests, especially ones that earns
money, as you enter into modeling.
And good luck!

I am a model, have been since I was in my early teens.
Take some decent snapshots and take them into local modeling agencies. Don't pay for classes or "portfolio building", most of them are a total waste of money. If she has what it takes to model (not just being skinny, she has to be able to pose, emote, and take direction from a crew, acting abilities don't hurt either) an agencies will help her get started in return for payment through her first jobs.
If she just wants pretty pictures then no, she shouldn't do it. Modeling is hard work. It takes time, dedication, and it's very physically demanding. If she is willing to work for it though, then sure, she should give it a try.
Please feel free to email me directly at diann_model@yahoo.com if you would like, I would be more then happy to help you any way that I can.

Well it all depends on you, do you have the time to travel and the money for the modeling shoots? The start up fee for just a SHOOT is about 1,000, that is only for photos, not exposure, you need to be very motivated and have a lot of time, and a lot of money! The accessories and outfits are at your expense. You need time to travel so if this is your only child and she can clearly keep up her studies and do this and you have time and money for all the travel? GO FOR IT! Otherwise, what 11 yr old DOESN'T wanna be a model? Most girls at her age all look AMAZING!
5'5 is very tall for 11 so she may be a great model! If she has that free spirit in front of a camera, lots of ideas for poses, why not! It all depands on YOU. You are the best judge on all the important things.
There are several academies in the phone book, look one up. I'll be honest with you, it really doesn't matter what she looks like, they will say yes to EVERYONE, they want your start up money!!!!! She needs to have the attitude.

If your not sure about it, tell her as long as she keeps her grades up you will help her when she turns 14yrs or whatever. Puberty changes everyone so she may be interested now but change her mind later.
To get her started get a good headshot and some other photos from a professional photographer. Then send them to some popular modeling agencies. go to their websites and see what it takes for them to sign a person that young.
you also need to know what type of modelling she wants to do, runway (must be a bit older) or catolog, which she could do now.

Reality will teach you both. Only that can lead you to the right choice, not here and these answers.
You can google model searches, or Model searches in your area. When she gets denied, she'll either quit or try harder.
When she gets a callback, she'll need your help. It takes a lot of travelling and time. First, you'll need some head shots. NOT GALMOUR SHOTS.
Good luck.

I was a young model and enjoyed every min of it. I grew out of it but I didn't turn out to be like everyone is saying. Not all models are like those that these people are stereotyping. Do what you feel is right.

Too young to think about stuff like that. It's still time to be a kid. There's plenty of time later in life to be an adult. Plenty! Also don't let her watch so much TV. It's the devil.

I would not let her be a model. Have you ever noticed how unhappy most of the models are? Most of them are on drugs, party all the time, starve themselves to look good. They don't look good, they look emanciated. Sick. Tell your daughter to eat. She is too skinny for her height. Do you want her to be anorexic?
Just saw this story on abc.com about a model that starved herself to death, check it out: http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=3883944&page=1

get her started!! my bff wants to become a model and shes 13, and she is in photo shoots. !
if its her dream, dont hold her back!
you might regret it one day if you do!
if you think she is too young, you might wanna wait till shes at leats 13 or 14, just because of the pressure and the getting turned donw might be too much stress!
good luck :)
