Rabies in humans can take much longer than 10 days to produce symptoms, in some people, it takes years. The closer to the exposure you start treatment the better, but even now it's important to go through with it.

Talk to a doctor, they'll know what sort of exposures are dangerous in your area.

This summer I was bitten and had to take rabies shots.

You have to start the shots before 7 days of exposure for them to be effective. The best way to find out if your a candidate for rabies shots is to call the poison control hotline. They follow very specific protocol and can advise you if you are at risk and offer you health information based on the particulars of your case. I might add, they are very nice too and very easy to talk with.

If your are interested heres an article about my rabies shots and it also has a wicked picture of my bite as well.

Seven days is cutting it close, and could possibly be too late. Symptoms often start after 10 days. Theres no treatment once symptoms start. Only 3 people in the world are known to have survived rabies.
